tuesday mornings

(top: Forever 21; beanie: some store in Harajuku)

One of those rare mornings where I have a few extra minutes to snap photos of myself right before heading off to work. It's just starting to become less humid out here in Tokyo, so I opted for my shoulder-less cropped top from F21 with a pencil skirt from Zara (hopefully I'll have a full outfit post another time), and a simple beanie to add the casual cherry on top.

I also wanted to quickly share my recent makeup routine:

I don't wear red lipstick everyday, but I use all the other products on a daily basis.
Any favorite makeup products that you use? I would love to know!

monochrome

Second set from the photo shoot mentioned in my previous post. This is a completely different theme and look, which I chose, from the clothes to the hair & makeup. I really wanted to wear this cropped white shirt from my work, Le Ciel Bleu, with my sarouel pants that I found for a reasonable price at Forever 21. White & black, monochrome world. The hair-styling in the very last photo was suggested by my photographer, which turned out surprisingly well.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work! Any kind of feedback is appreciated, seriously.

Love,

Samantha Mariko

It's been a while since I posted some of my modeling work. These are the first set from a photo shoot I did about a month ago with two very talented artists. Most of you probably don't know, but I do have a sprinkle of freckles that aren't as noticeable as the added spray of freckles here (yep, it's makeup). I was unsure at first if I could pull it off, but I'm really satisfied with how it turned out. "Modern day Anne of Green Gables" - what do you think? Feel free to leave any comments or criticisms!

Another set, entirely different, coming soon.

searching for inner peace - kamakura

Yesterday, I spent my Saturday morning observing and exploring the temples in Kamakura, Engakuji and Tokeiji to be exact. It was a bit gloomy and showering with rain in the morning, but soon became sunny by the afternoon. My first stop at Engakuji had me huffing and panting slightly at the end when I went to see the Ogane Bonsho, the temple bell gong, the largest in the monastery. After my little hike, I enjoyed the amazing view of Kamakura before I made my next stop at Tokeiji. Tokeiji, to me, was more like a beautiful garden than a temple - the last few photos of the temple are my favorites of the day.

Was I able to find inner peace? I don't know, but it was a great experience that left me refreshed and energized for another work week ahead.

Have a great week everyone!
