a weekend in yokohama

It's been almost a year since I last went to Yokohama - I spent a relaxing Saturday with my man at the Red Brick Warehouse and Minato Mirai area. Rainy season seems to be extending into July, which means cooler days and less humidity - my kind of summer. I finally found the opportunity to wear my jumpsuit I got from Zara a while back (some similar ones here), and was lucky enough to find some hipster-looking shades for 1000 yen (similar here). While we were waiting in line for the ferris wheel at night, the fireworks started, and they continued all throughout the ride which was absolutely perfect. The view from above was so pretty and I realized that when I have a gorgeous view in front of me, I love to admire it in blissful silence, hence the single photo (sorry!).

I'm glad to have spent such a peaceful weekend after a hectic first week since my birthday! Whew.
Can't wait to check out what everyone else has been doing this weekend :)

reunion!

Yesterday, I had a glorious reunion with one of my best friends from SoCal. It's hard to realize that it's been a year since I last saw him.. time flies so quickly. Anyways, we had a late lunch/dessert with his friends at Bubby's in Yokohama Landmark Tower (their apple pie was superb!), and my friend and I headed over to Shibuya for a much-needed karaoke session and dinner. I've know this handsome guy for 9 years now and always thankful that our friendship has remained strong throughout those years. Even though I live in Tokyo and he lives in SoCal, I know that I can always go to him for anything and vice versa. Gonna miss you!

One a side note, I've updated my header and [finally] included an "About" page. Would be awesome if you all checked that out :)

Good night everyone and have a great week!

by the seaside

(shirt: Warriors of Radness; skirt: Zara; beanie: Le Ciel Bleu; shoes: Underground;
clutch: Gap)

I spent a relaxing day in Yokohama today with family friends. Blue sky, an ocean breeze (well, more like wind)... it was a Sunday well spent. It was my first time visiting the Red Brick Warehouse, a sort of shopping mall now but originally a customs building. One of the perks of Yokohama is the historical buildings and landmarks that continue to exist. We also took a stroll through Yamashita Park before heading to Chinatown for dinner. The statue of the girl I'm sitting next to is from a fairy tale called "The Red Shoes" by Andersen. I read this story when I was a little girl, and I realized real fairy tales do not have happy endings...maybe. :)

Check back for my next blog post featuring a photo shoot I did this weekend in Harajuku!

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram, too!

Have a great week! xx

a sunday in chinatown

I was supposed to go to a Baystars vs. Tigers baseball game on Sunday but my friend didn't realize tickets would sell out during Golden Week so plans changed... We decided to walk over to Chu-kagai or the Chinatown of Japan in Yokohama. I've been to the Chinatown in San Francisco, but I enjoyed Chu-kagai so much more. Probably because of the food - everything was delicious. I am definitely planning another visit in the near future.
