John Lennon-inspired

coat: Le Ciel Bleu (similar here)
scarf: AZUL by moussy (similar here)
dress: Madewell
boots: Target (similar here)
bag: Madewell
sunglasses: Free People

I picked up these round-frame sunglasses at Free People this past weekend for a really good deal (I <3 sales), and even though the lenses are larger, they do remind me of John Lennon's. I used to think a lot of different frames weren't fit for my face shape, but I realized maybe it was my hair... Cutting my bangs this short has allowed me to look somewhat decent in these huge owl-like frames. I absolutely love them. Maybe I'll try some aviators next time.

I also can't get enough of this simple yet versatile gray scarf I picked up on a whim last fall. I wear it so many different ways, it is probably my most worn scarf, ever. What are your favorite winter accessories?

By the way, did you all watch the Grammy's? I was so happy Sam Smith won an armful of those. He is truly amazing and such an inspiration!

OUTFIT | Minimalist sorcery

coat: Le Ciel Bleu; knit dress: Madewell; skirt: Zara;
shoes: Nike; scarf: Uniqlo; watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Photo-shooting with Nahoko, round 2. It was Monday, I didn't know what to wear on this chilly February day, so I threw together some of my favorite items at the moment. Sort of resembling a sorceress... not intentionally though. I almost wore my plaid scarf from Uniqlo until I realized it looked hideous with the rest of the outfit (what was I thinking?). Time and time again, I am always reminded that you can never go wrong with black.

I think I'm starting to build a minimalist wardrobe. I recently found an article about minimalism via Into Mind blog, and it thoroughly explained what minimalism is and how to get started on such a wardrobe. I wear the same key pieces over and over again, combining them with others so I don't get bored with myself. I would much rather spend extra money on an item I really like than have too many less expensive and poor quality items. I ended up getting rid of a huge chunk of my wardrobe recently, and I realized they were all pieces I just picked up on a whim. Bad habit. I also believe owning less items forces you to be creative when creating daily outfits. :)

Yet again, Nahoko did an amazing job. We went from location to location to yet another location on our short lunch break, which resulted in all these cool shots. When she saw my outfit, the first thing she said was, " I like it, you remind me of a sorceress." Awesome.

Morning sunlight in an urban playground

coat: Topshop; dress: Madewell; boots: Dr. Martens;

When my photographer, Nahoko, brought me to this lifting outing in the somewhat discreet area of Nogizaka, my first thought was, "What the hell is this place?" A playground for adults, perhaps, I have no clue. This is definitely not a place for children (ha!). These wooden structures were so interesting, so modern, and oddly enough, I blended right in with my surroundings. Nahoko and I arrived right before our shift at work, and wow, does she know how to play with the natural morning light! It was so hard to choose the best ones out of the bunch. We are always shooting indoors in a tiny studio, so being outside and doing our thing was great. I'm sure we will be collaborating again soon.

I wear this knit dress from Madewell a little too much maybe, but it's my favorite! I paired it with my some black tights and my Doc Martens for a girly and playful touch. And my teddy coat, as usual, keeps me nice and snuggly warm.
