Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo - DRESSEDUNDRESSED & Leonard Wong

Last week was Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, one of the busiest weeks of the year for those working in the fashion industry. These are actually from the third day of shows, and I went for an overall dark color palette for that day's outfit. DRESSEDUNDRESSED and Leonard Wong 2017 S/S collections were both fantastic, DRESSEDUNDRESSED being a more simple, wearable collection while Leonard Wong had an edgier one with a special performance by dance unit Ayabambi. IVY PARK in Shibuya

So there's a funny story behind this tank top.

When I was visiting my hometown of Huntington Beach back in April, I went shopping at Nordstrom on a Thursday, right before Weekend 1 of Coachella. I had no idea Beyonce's new co-founded brand, Ivy Park, had just launched that day, so I obviously thought nothing about the fact that all the items were still in full stock. When I went to pay for the tank top, I noticed one of the sales associates was wearing the exact same one - oversized in a size M with a pair of leggings and Adidas Originals. That was when I couldn't decide whether I wanted to wear mine to fit or oversized. I ended up buying it in a size S just in case I wouldn't like it too loose. And besides, I could always exchange it later if I needed to. After a fun-filled weekend at Coachella, I went back to the same Nordstrom, deciding I wanted the tank top in a size M after all. To my shock, most of the items were already sold out in most of the Nordstroms in southern California. So, of course, no size M tank top for me. It was crazy how Ivy Park sold out of over half of their stock in just a single weekend. But at least I still have my tank top. In size S. I suppose it was meant to be.

４月にハンティントン・ビーチの実家に戻っていたときに、コーチェラの第一週末の前の木曜日、ノードストロームというデパートで買い物をしました。ちょうどその日に、ビヨンセの新しいブランド、Ivy Parkがローンチしたのを全然知らなくて、全商品が在庫数１００％の状態で店頭に出ていたことを不思議にも思いませんでした。着用しているタンクトップのお会計をしているとき、店員さんが同じタンクをオーバーサイズで着ているのがかっこいいなと思い、そこでまたサイズに迷ってしまいました。結局、その日はオーバーサイズではなく、もうちょっと体にフィットしそうなSサイズを買いました。また迷ったら、後日交換できるだろうと思って。楽しさ満点のコーチェラ週末明けに、やはりオーバーサイズのタンクが気になり、サイズ交換しに同じデパートへ行ったら、ほとんどの商品が売り切れていたことにショック。もちろん、オーバーサイズのMサイズタンクも無しです。週末の間の数日に、半分以上の商品が売り切れるなんてすごい、流石ビヨンセのブランド！それでも、タンク一枚はゲットできたので良しとしました。それが運命だったと信じて。

Alexandra Stan x Bershka collaboration event

"Mr. Saxobeat" singer Alexandra Stan is back in Tokyo in style! Last night was the #ALESTAxBershka collaboration event in Shibuya, and she did a spectacular performance from the 3rd floor of Bershka. I attended with Marie and Mika, and we also enjoyed an in-depth interview with Alexandra after the performance. Her Bershka collaboration dress and backpack are in stores as of yesterday, and I already bought the dress (can't wait to wear it to a music festival!). Her new album "ALESTA" is already out so check that out, too. She is the sweetest, most down-to-earth woman, and we were all surprised when she did a Snapchat selfie with us! Being an aspiring singer and artist, she is a huge inspiration to me in terms of both fashion and music. Best of luck on your summer tour, and see you again Alexandra! 

「Mr. Saxobeat」のルーマニア出身の歌手、アレクサンドラスタンさんがスタイリッシュに来日！昨夜は　#ALESTAxBershkaのコラボレーションイベントが、Bershka渋谷店にて開催されたので、友達のマリーとミカちゃんと行ってきました。お店の３階から、フリーライブを披露して、人がたくさん集まっていました！素晴らしいパフォーマンスで、ノリノリでした！彼女とBershkaのコラボレーションアイテムのワンピースとリュックは、昨日より発売。早速ワンピースをゲットしちゃいました（音楽フェスで着るのが楽しみ！）。アレクサンドラのニューアルバム、「ALESTA」は、すでにリリースされていて、昨日も収録曲を歌いました。彼女と写真撮ったり、お話しすることができて、本当に優しくて素敵な方です♡スナチャにも載せてもらいました！夏のツアー、頑張って欲しいです！また会える日を楽しみにしています♪

Retro Shibuya streets & teddy bear coats

Sometimes you think you know a location so well because you've been there so much, but it turns out you don't really know. My photographer friend Viktor showed me an unknown area (at least to me) in Shibuya that was like time-traveling for me to the Showa Era. Tiny izakaya shops (aka Japanese bars) in a tiny street, with entrances that were shoulder height for me (crazy!). It could almost be a museum. I wonder what it would be like if I lived in this era... And walk another 10 minutes and you're by a skate park with barbed-wire fences and smooth concrete. Oh, Shibuya, you never cease to amaze me.

何回も何回も同じ場所に行ってると、大体はもう知っていると思いがちだけど、実はそこまで知っていなかった。そういうときありませんか？年末に友達のヴィクターさんが、私が今まで知らなかった渋谷に連れて行ってくれました。とても昭和チックな小さな道に、何件もの小さな居酒屋がずらり。お店の入り口も私の肩ぐらいまでしかなかったので、びっくり！ちょっとした博物館みたいで、すべてが新鮮だった。昭和の頃に生きていたら、どんなだったんだろう。。そして、あと１０分も歩けば、まるで違う世界。ワイアーのフェンスに、コンクリートの谷でできているスケートパーク。渋谷は本当に面白いね。

I remember back in 3rd grade when "bell bottoms" were the biggest craze, and all my friends wore them to school everyday. I wore my flares on and off throughout my school days until the skinny jeans came into the scene, but now it seems like flared denim has made another comeback. This pair I'm wearing from Zara has a flattering silhouette, and long enough to wear them with them with heels.   And I'm also very into plain white t-shirts - they go with just about everything. 

私が３年生の時、フレアジーンズがとても人気で、友達と毎日学校へはいて行きました。学生の頃はフレアははいたりはかなかったりの繰り返しで、そのうちスキニーデニムが流行りました。でも、最近またフレアデニムがカムバックしましたね！このコーデではいているZaraのデニムはシルエットがとても綺麗で、ヒールとは相性抜群。あと、シンプルな白Tシャツは相変わらず大好きです。何とでも合うから。
